Thursday 5 October

Roger D. Kornberg, Ph.D., Mrs. George A. Winzer Professor in Medicine and professor of structural biology at Stanford University School of Medicine, will present the 2006 Dickson Prize in Medicine Lecture titled Chromatin and Transcription.

4:00 p.m.

Carla J. Shatz, Ph.D., Nathan Marsh Pusey Professor and chair of the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School, will present the School of Medicine's 2006 Mellon Lecture titled Dynamic Interplay between Nature and Nurture in Brain Development.

Friday 6 October
11:00 a.m.

Baldomero M. Olivera, Ph.D., distinguished professor of biology at the University of Utah and an adjunct professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, will present the School of Medicine's 2006 Klaus Hofmann Lecture titled Animal Biodiversity and Drug Discovery: Cone Snail Venoms, A Case Study.

4:00 p.m.

Nathan S. Lewis, Ph.D., George L. Argyros Professor, professor of chemistry, and principal investigator of the Beckman Institute Molecular Materials Resource Center at the California Institute of Technology, will present the 2006 Provost Lecture titled Scientific Challenges in Sustainable Energy Technology.
